This collection embraces the beauty of nature’s palette. There are rich colours extracted from natural earth pigments and more subtle pigments from plants. Each piece of cloth has been painted and/or printed with the natural pigments.
The printing started with a collection of newspaper headlines referencing our beautiful planet and our impact on it and these were used to create a silkscreen. The printed headlines are always subtle, sometimes barely discernible and for some pieces not there at all.
Looking back, I shouldn’t be surprised that my interest in the natural environment and the growing awareness of the impact we’re having on the planet, has led me to explore the journey from nature to wall.
If you’re drawn to both the vastness of nature as well as its intricate details, then maybe one of these artworks is for you?

‘Lifting’ is inspired by the balance between our actions and the natural world.
Newspaper headlines relating to our environment were collated and reproduced on a silk screen. Earth pigments were used to paint layers of colour and to screenprint the newspaper headlines.
The natural texture of the linen is still visible through the layers of earth pigments and if you look closely, you can see fragments of letters from the newspaper headlines.
The lighter spheres, added separately, are hand stitched and lifting.
This is a one of a kind artwork which evokes warmth and curiosity.
